UNRAVELLING ELECTION CONFUSION!
With both the general and local elections likely to be taking place on May 6th this year a new website for the borough is encouraging Haringey residents who may not have voted in previous elections to have their say on election day.
“The elections taking place this year in the borough are of importance to us all. We feel that elections can be confusing – especially when more than one type of election is taking place on the same day” said Horner St.Catherine, co-founder of Inharingey.co.uk
“Voter turnout in Haringey is traditionally very low – just 35% in the last local elections. We hope to encourage our all users, but particularly the young and those who may not have voted before, to have their say by simplifying election terminology that can put people off, and making clear the differences between general and local elections in a way that is accessible to all”
Mr St.Catherine and his brother Albert have run a small printing business in Tottenham for over 20 years, and started the Inharingey website with the aim of delivering information and news about local businesses, services and events to encourage and enable local people to make the most of living in the borough.
“For us it’s about giving something positive back to the area we have lived in all our lives. We feel it’s important for everyone in all parts of Haringey and all sections of our community to feel informed and able to participate in these elections, and have their say on election day”
