Rohen Kapur - Independent Parliamentary candidate for Hornsey & Wood Green in the 2010 General Election

Rohen Kapur

Rohen Kapur

I am here, not to extract more of your wealth or to control more of your lives, but because I believe that liberty is the key ingredient to greater prosperity and happiness

I am standing because I feel that there needs to be a real change. The other parties bang on and on about fairness but to you the voter there is not that much. You don’t get to decide policy; I am here to hand that back to you.
I would prefer that my manifesto be determined by the 78000 voters in Hornsey and Wood Green (majority votes after reasoned debate and education on the main issues)
My manifesto is that I want you to tell me what is wrong with things and for me to go out and make it better. I need to listen to what concerns you, rather than have a big manifesto that dictates to you what I am here for, because at the end of the day an Independent reports back to the people who elected and voted them in, and not to any political party

One of the key factors in my standing was the imposition of a CPZ in my part of Woodside when a majority had voted against it.

I don’t believe in the main three parties anymore. Their national policies do not inspire me with confidence. That’s why I have put myself forward as I feel you should be the change you wish to see in the world.

I have one pledge that I am bringing to you, the Albion Alliance Pledge for a referendum on the continuing membership of the European Union. The electors in this constituency and in every constituency have to have a vote on this and I’m here to bring you that choice because the other three parties won’t give you it. I will abide by the result and work with it.

I have one request, that you use your vote, Don’t say you are not going to vote because nothing changes!. 30000 people in Hornsey and Wood Green didn’t vote last time and if I could have anything, I would want all 78000 people in the constituency to put a cross in a box next to whichever candidate they chose.

I’m happy to answer any questions. I know I’m not here in person but my email and website will be provided by Taruna to anyone interested.
